Tour Overview
Island Peak is also known as Imja Tse located in eastern part of Nepal in Everest region of Sagarmatha National Park with an elevation of 6,189 meter, standing between Ama Dablam and Lhotse Peaks. The British Everest expedition team named this peak as Island Peak in 1953 later it was renamed to Imja Tse but till today Island peak remains the popular name. The south summit of Island Peak was first climbed as training exercise by a team who went to Mt. Everest summit. The climbers are Tenzing Norgay Sherpa, Alfred Gregory, Charles Evans, Charles Wylie and other Sherpa members. Later, in 1956 Hans-Rudolf Von Gunten and Sherpa Guide climbed on the summit of Island Peak from Swiss team who became the first Island peak summiteer.
We combine Island Peak climbing along with Everest Base Camp trek due to high altitude training and exercise before to make successful ascent. So, Island peak climbing covers both Everest Base Camp Trek and adventure experience of Mountain alpinism as well as explore pristine unique Sherpa culture; witness amazing glacial moraines, historical Buddhist monasteries, prayer rocks, Mani wall and Chortens. Island peak climbing begins after having scenic flight to Lukla from Kathmandu and follow the trail of Everest Base Camp; explore around, climb Kala Patthar and hike to Dingboche, Chhukung, Island Peak Base Camp and finally Summit.

The summit of Island peak offers magnificent view of Himalayan sights, valleys, and amazing glaciers. The Himalayan wonders such as Lhotse (8,516m), Nuptse (7,861m), Ama Dablam (6,812m), Makalu (8,481m) and more white panoramic views can be seen from top of Island Peak. Climbers can have unforgettable climbing experience due to its adventure and delightful ascending part. But the climb near to the summit is somehow difficult due to steep route.
